பட்ட சான்றிதழ்
Jensrani Thangavel graduated with B.A. Honours from the then Nanyang University in 1979, after completing her B.A. in 1978. In 1975, she was part of the first intake of English-medium students in the previously Chinese-medium university. The layout of this degree certificate reflects Jensrani’s novel place in the university’s linguistic history.
Today, the presence of Singaporean Tamil women in higher education is commonplace. This development over the course of just one generation sees Tamil women entering and thriving in an expanded range of professions.

ஜான்சிராணி தங்கவேல் அவர்கள் 1978 இல் அப்போதைய நன்யாங் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் பி.ஏ. முடித்த பிறகு 1979 இல் பி.ஏ. ஹானர்ஸ் பட்டம் பெற்றார். அன்று சீன மொழி ஊடகப் பல்கலைக்கழகமாக இருந்த நான்யாங் பல்கலைக்கழகம் 1975ஆம் ஆண்டில் ஆங்கில மொழி ஊடகப் பல்கலைக்கழகமாக மாறிய போது, முதன்முதலில் சேர்ந்த மாணவக் கூட்டத்தில் இவரும் ஒருவர். இந்த பட்ட சான்றிதழின் தளவமைப்பு பல்கலைக்கழக மொழியியல் வரலாற்றில் ஜான்சிராணியின் புதிய இடத்தைப் பிரதிபலிக்கிறது.
இன்று, உயர் கல்வியில் சிங்கப்பூர் தமிழ் பெண்கள் இருப்பது வியக்கத்தக்க ஓன்று. ஒரே தலைமுறையில் இந்த வளர்ச்சியானது, தமிழ் பெண்கள் விரிவாக்கப்பட்ட தொழில்களில் நுழைவதையும், முன்னேற்றம் அடைந்து வருவதையும் காண்கிறது.

I was one of the first Tamil women to graduate from NU. Out of the 20 or so English-medium students in my batch, 6 were non-Chinese. I had to learn conversational Chinese, because most others in the university were Chinese. (Jensrani)
